Amelia Island named to top islands list

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — For the sixth consecutive year, Northeast Florida's Amelia Island has placed among the Top 10 US Islands in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards. In 2012, the destination ranked #10 among US Islands, with a list that includes Maui, Nantucket, and Hilton Head.

Additionally, two Amelia Island accommodators placed among the Top Florida Resorts: The Elizabeth Pointe Lodge, a 25-room, oceanfront boutique hotel, ranked #3 and the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, a 446-room beachfront resort, was listed #10 in Top Florida resorts.

"It is always an honor to be recognized by our loyal visitors and exciting to finish in the Top 10 six years running with such outstanding company," said Gil Langley, Managing Director of the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. "These rankings show just how dedicated our visitors are to keeping us on this list as one of their favorite vacation destinations."

The awards are based on the results of the magazine's annual Readers' Choice Survey, in which more than 46,400 travelers voted this year. Winners will be published in the November issue.
