Man Run Down At RaceTrac After Argument

Police in Cobb County are searching for a man, they say, decided to settle an argument by using his car to run over the other guy.

The impact was so violent it sent the victim first onto the hood, then over the car.

The fight was caught on a store surveillance camera.

The incident happened on September 20 at a RaceTrac in Powder Springs and it was all caught on store surveillance.

Officials say one of the two men involved decided to settle the argument by using the most powerful weapon he had – his car.

Witnesses say the dispute had clearly started somewhere else – and might have been fueled by alcohol – and somehow landed at the front doors of the RaceTrac gas station.

“There were exchanging words right at the front door,” said Officer Wayne Delk with the Cobb County Police Department.

Surveillance video shows a man in a black hat leaving the store first and headed to his car. The victim hung around the store and appeared to exchange words with the clerks, then he left.

“Not long after that, you see headlights go by the front door of the business, and those headlights are the suspect’s vehicle and you can barely make out the victim was actually on the hood of the vehicle,” said Officer Delk explaining the surveillance video.

Witnesses told police the car hit the victim – identified as Damon Brown – and Brown went over the hood, hit the windshield and over the top of the car. He limped back to the store where he collapsed.

The clerks called 911 and the police arrived within minutes as the man writhed in pain.

Police are now looking for the man in the black hat – described as a white male in his 40’s, about 6’ tall and 190 pounds.

“It was definitely an intentional act. He actually waited for the victim to come out of the store and use his vehicle as a weapon,” said Officer Delk.

Police say Brown was treated at a local hospital for injuries to his legs but is expected to be okay.

Officials say the suspect also had a female passenger in his car with him at the time.
