DALLAS -- Debris falling 19 floors off a building hit and killed two Dallas construction workers. Authorities said a front-end loader on the roof of the old Mercantile National Bank Building knocked off the concrete and sent it tumbling along with a metal claw. The debris hit the cab of a truck, killing the driver, as well as a second worker standing nearby. The driver who was killed was in a tractor-trailer that was hauling rocks in and out of the pit. According to Dallas police, the front-end loader was moving concrete as part of a renovation project on a World War II-era building that's been vacant nearly 20 years.
