Police and park rangers are warning hikers at Kennesaw Mountain to be careful – after a woman is attacked at knifepoint.

The attack happened Friday night on one of the trails near the welcome center for the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Parks.

According to investigators, a woman was walking in the park when she was grabbed from behind by a male suspect around 8:30 p.m.

“That’s startling – that scares me,” says park visitor Joan Gilmore.

The woman says the suspect placed a knife to her throat, but she was able reverse head-butt the man, and she ran for her life.

Police say they are looking for a white male, approximately 30 years old, 6’2” to 6’3” tall and about 180 pounds. They say he has brown hair and was wearing a white t-shirt, blue shorts and running shoes.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the Cobb County Police.
