Deck Collapses; Three Injured

Posted: 6:05 am EDT May 30, 2006Updated: 7:47 am EDT May 30, 2006

Three men were injured when a deck collapsed Monday during a Memorial Day barbeque.

One of the men was seriously burned when a lighted grill landed on top of him and set him on fire.

Family members doused him with a hose. Frank Hickman is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Brothers Eric and David Hickman were taken to Kennestone Hospital with ankle injuries.

Police say the deck off the second story of the house on Lake Court near Canton Highway just sheared way from the house.

Wood in the rubble appeared to be rotten.

"I was talking to them through the door and then suddenly they just disappeared," said Leigh Hickman.
