Cat Loses Paw, Tail In Attack

Posted: 12:14 pm EDT May 25, 2006Updated: 3:37 pm EDT May 25, 2006

DeKalb County police are investigating a case of animal abuse that cost a cat a paw and his tail.

Hudson the cat is being treated at the Avondale Veterinary Clinic.

“He’s basically missing his foot from his ankle on down,” says Dr. David Williams.

The attack also left Hudson without his tail.

Police are checking reports that a teenager abused the cat.

Although Hudson is recovering from his wounds Dr. Williams says he suffers from Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, which is similar to HIV in humans.

That means he must live indoors and he can’t live around other cats since he is contagious.
