Woman Threatened After Road Rage Incident

Posted: 4:28 pm EDT April 20, 2006Updated: 5:22 pm EDT April 20, 2006

Wilma Parker says a trip on the Buford Highway Connector ended with her being harassed on the phone later that day – including being called the “n” word.

Parker says she was driving on the Buford Highway Connector last week when another driver cut her off. She says she had to slam on her brakes to avoid a collision. But, after the incident, Parker went about her day – not giving the incident a second thought.

Later that day, she received a disturbing and threatening phone call. Parker, who has a business phone number on her vehicle, received a message on her machine from the man who, apparently, was the driver that pulled in front of her earlier in the day.

The message was, “Hey you (“n” word) you don’t know how to drive your car otherwise you’re going to get your ass (expletive) killed.” The message goes on to say, “I’ll be the one doing the killing.”

Parker says, “I played it 3 times. I said ‘Oh my God’ that the part where he said he was going to kill me, I ran to my alarm to make sure my alarm was on.”

Parker says she was very frightened and upset by the message and she has filed a police report with the DeKalb Police Department. They are investigating the incident as a terroristic threat.

She says a name did come up on her caller I.D. possibly identifying the person. “He had to be really angry that he didn’t think about caller I.D.” she says.
