Police have recovered a stolen car that is believed armed robbers used as their getaway vehicle in the robbery of a Paulding County restaurant.

The Tequila Mexican Restaurant in Dallas was robbed Sunday night while 50 to 60 people, most members of a church group, were eating dinner. Witnesses say the armed men entered through the kitchen and the front door of the restaurant, forcing patrons to the floor and taking their valuables. Amongst the items taken were cell phones, purses and wallets, as well as cash from the restaurant’s register.

Police believe the getaway vehicle used has been found in Cobb County where it had been abandoned. Officials say the car had been stolen from a convenience store. Inside the car, they found a number of purses, wallets and other personal possessions that had been stolen during the robbery. Police described the items found as "dozens and dozens of items." They also found a shotgun, believed used in the robbery, in the vehicle.

The search for the suspects continues.
