Pair Arrested in Texas in Clayton Fatal Shooting

Posted: 4:09 pm EDT July 22, 2005

Two men found in Texas have been arrested and extradited back to Georgia in connection with a double shooting a month ago at a Clayton County restaurant, authorities said.

Clayton Sheriff Victor Hill traveled to San Benito, Texas to escort brothers Jose Romo and Alejandro Romo back to Jonesboro, where they will face charges in connection with the June 23 shootings at Salt and Pepper Fish House.

It was not immediately clear what led police to the suspects or what the motive in the shooting attack, which left one man dead and another critically wounded.

A cook who worked at the restaurant suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head from a shotgun. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was shot repeatedly with a handgun and was hospitalized.

Police said no money was taken during the incident.
