Gwinnett County police continued their search Wednesday for an escaped prisoner who was apparently stabbed by a homeowner after he allegedly broke into a Norcross residence.

Latrelle Acharr Richardson

Latrelle Acharr Richardson, 25, was believed to have been stabbed in the chest and stomach by the resident, who lives at a home in the 5500 block of Goodwick Way.

The former inmate, who was serving time at the Gwinnett Correctional Institute, a low-security county facility, apparently walked away Tuesday from his work detail.

Authorities said the man was working at the Community Recycling Bank, a Duluth recycling facility on Satellite Boulevard, when he walked away from the facility at 2 p.m.

Police said the man was serving a two-year prison sentence for a probation violation.
