Cook Fatally Wounded During Double Shooting at Eatery

Help From Public Sought to Find Killers

Police were searching Thursday for two suspects after a man was fatally shot and a second one critically wounded during an afternoon shooting at a Clayton County strip shopping center.

The shooting occurred at 11:45 a.m. at a restaurant inside the Windmere Shopping Center, which is located at 157 Ga. 138 near Ga. 85.

One of the victims, who worked as a cook at the Salt and Pepper Fish House, suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head from a shotgun. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim was shot repeatedly with a handgun before he was lifeflighted for medical treatment to Atlanta Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition.

The identities of the victims were pending.

Police said no money was taken during the incident. The victims were both black. The perpetrators were described as two Hispanic men who fled the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee.

The vehicle was found at 2:30 p.m. in Gwinnett County. Police said the suspects got out of the Jeep and transferred to a blue 2002 Toyota RAV4 sport utility vehicle. The tag of the SUV was 4966 AGD.
