After searching for a robbery suspect in a Fayette County movie theater for nearly 24 hours, police arrested the man early Wednesday after they found him hiding between two walls on the second floor.

Police take Darrell Brown into custody after 23-hour standoff.

Darrell Brown, 45, of Douglasville, was taken into custody about 1:30 a.m.

Another suspect, Aundrea Lee, 28, of Powder Springs, was taken into custody Tuesday as he was trying to hide in a ceiling of the sprawling complex. Both men were facing several charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment.

When officers found the man, he surrendered without incident, Fayetteville Police Detective Steve Crawshaw said.

"I think, at that point, he knew it was over," he said.

The man was not armed, Crawshaw said.

The theater was expected to reopen sometime Wednesday afternoon after safety reviews by health and fire inspectors.

The arrest of the second suspect capped a long ordeal in which SWAT team members and police negotiators searched furiously to find the man in the theater.

During the final hours of the search, police dispatched some undercover deputies inside the theater to look for movement. Brown was found inside a 10-inch wide wall that he accessed through a ceiling, authorities said.

Law enforcement authorities were called to the 17-screen Cinemark Tinseltown theater, located at 134 Pavillion Park near Ga. 85 and Ga. 314, at 1 a.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported during the incident, which began at 1 a.m. when emergency dispatchers received a call about a hold-up at the cinema.

Authorities said two employees were tied up during the robbery. It was not immediately clear what, if anything, was taken during the heist.

Lee was taken into custody as he tried to hide in the ceiling. Money and a gun fell from the man's clothing as police grabbed the suspect's feet.

The second suspect stuck his head out of a rear door but retreated back into the complex when he saw the mass of law enforcement officers gathered outside.

"We were hoping that he would give up," one officer said. "It's tense and it's hot. We don't know whether he's armed (but) it's just a very large theater (that) is very hard to search."

Police turned off the air conditioning in the building, which covers 72,000 square feet, in an effort to coax the man out. Temperatures in metro Atlanta soared to the upper 80s on Tuesday.

The area around the cinema was cordoned off and mid-morning and early afternoon movie showings suspended Tuesday. The theater had to cancel a midnight showing of the new "Batman" movie.
