STOCKBRIDGE -- At the height of the evening rush hour commute, authorities shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Henry County Monday after a fiery wreck that involved a tractor-trailer, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. at I-75 just north of I-675. The driver was airlifted by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center although the victim's condition was pending. One northbound lane was closed and all southbound lanes were shut as of 5 p.m.
Video from cameras posted along the interstate showed flames in the rear of the truck, and the cabin portion of the vehicle, which houses the driver, was virtually destroyed.Authorities said it appears that the tractor-trailer overturned before the truck ignited into flames. It was not clear what led to the accident.wsbtv.com Staff Writer Alfred Charles contributed to this report.
