Suspect Sought In Acworth Slaying

City Tries To Solve First Murder In 4 Years

Acworth police say a woman's jealous ex-boyfriend is responsible for the city's first murder in four years.

Investigators were still looking for Jose Bautista Sunday. He's wanted in the death of Lisa Ann Bourquardez, who was found dead Friday in her home on Rockdale Drive after she failed to pick up her children from daycare.

Bautista fled the scene in the woman's car after arriving on a bicycle, Officer Wayne Dennard said, adding that Bautista is in the country illegally and may be trying to get to Mexico.

Bourquardez, 27, broke up with Bautista three weeks ago, and he had been stalking her, although she did not report it to police, Dennard said.

Officers say there were no signs of forced entry at the home, but there were obvious signs of a struggle.

Police said they were looking for the woman's missing blue 1995 four-door Saturn with Georgia license AAD6432 and a red 1995 Ford F-150 pickup with Georgia license 7469AJJ.
