Attorneys Mum After Meeting About Girls' Tainted Caked

Girls Will Return to Court in February

Prosecutors and attorneys representing the girls accused of spiking a cake that sickened several of their fellow classmates declined comment about the case after meeting Wednesday behind closed doors.

Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head declined to divulge to Channel 2 Action News what tests showed was in the cake despite reporters' requests.

Head said he will not release the results because they are potentially criminal evidence.

It was not immediately clear if Head divulged the information to the attorneys representing the girls. The lawyers apparently left the building through a rear door after meeting with the DA.

The girls are both East Cobb Middle School students. The district has suspended the girls and recommended one be transferred to an alternative school for the rest of the year.

About a dozen classmates became sick after eating the cake last month.

The girls face charges including aggravated assault with intent to commit murder for allegedly baking a tainted cornbread cake and serving it to fellow students.

The girls' next court appearance is scheduled for February.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Regan contributed to this report.
