Clues Sought After Infant's Body Found in SE Atlanta

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

Police were searching for clues Tuesday after the body of an infant who appeared to have been set on fire before being dumped in a wooded area was discovered in southeast Atlanta, authorities said.

A city sewer worker found the baby and summoned police to the area near Grange Drive and Grange Court just off of Thomasville Drive shortly after 1 p.m.

The child, believed to be between 6 and 12 months old, was placed in a bucket that was burned before it was thrown along the side of the road, authorities said.

The gender of the infant was not immediately available.

More details to come.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Ross Cavitt contributed to this report.
