MARIETTA -- A beanbag gun helped end a standoff that shut down a busy road in Cobb County Saturday, police said.

A man who threatened to shoot himself led police on a chase, then wrecked on South Marietta Parkway near Roswell Road.

Police shut down the road and tried to get the man to surrender.

When he refused, an officer fired a bean-bag gun and knocked the gun out of the man's hand, police said.

Police took him into custody.
