MARTA Police Officer Wins $1 Million

A MARTA policeman has clinched a million-dollar prize. Michael Wyatt, a resident of McDonough, won his $1 million prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Maximum Green.

“I still can’t breathe,” said Wyatt, 47, who works for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.

He purchased his winning ticket at a BP gas station in McDonough.

The $1 million prize is a second win for the lucky lottery player. Last July, Wyatt won an outdoor adventure trip to an outfitter located in eastern Montana, an approximate retail value of more than $25,000, courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. He won his grand prize from the Bass Pro Shops $250,000 Cash Adventure Bonus Chance Drawing.

“I’ve been kind of lucky,” he admits. “Right now, I feel overwhelmed.”

With his latest prize, Wyatt has set his sights on paying off bills and purchasing a new home.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
