MARTA Police Officer Wins $1 Million

ATLANTA -- A MARTA policeman has clinched a million-dollar prize. Michael Wyatt, a resident of McDonough, won his $1 million prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Maximum Green.“I still can’t breathe,” said Wyatt, 47, who works for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.He purchased his winning ticket at a BP gas station in McDonough.The $1 million prize is a second win for the lucky lottery player. Last July, Wyatt won an outdoor adventure trip to an outfitter located in eastern Montana, an approximate retail value of more than $25,000, courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. He won his grand prize from the Bass Pro Shops $250,000 Cash Adventure Bonus Chance Drawing. “I’ve been kind of lucky,” he admits. “Right now, I feel overwhelmed.”With his latest prize, Wyatt has set his sights on paying off bills and purchasing a new home. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
