Police: 'Pantyhose Rapist' Removed Ankle Monitor

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for convicted rapist Ali Reza Nejad.

Since April of last year, Nejad, 38, has been free on a $100,000 bond, awaiting retrial, said the sheriff's office.

As a condition of his bond, Nejad was ordered to wear a GPS-enabled ankle monitor along with other restrictions, said the sheriff's office.

Investigators said Nejad removed his ankle bracelet after learning his bond was to be revoked Monday. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office immediately initiated a manhunt for Ali Nejad after the monitor was removed.

On Monday, the Georgia Supreme Court's unanimous ruling reversed a decision by the Georgia Court of Appeals that had thrown out the convictions against Nejad, who authorities dubbed the "Pantyhose Rapist."

Deputies are seeking any information about Nejad's whereabouts.

A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the capture of Nejad through the assistance of Crime Stoppers. Tipsters should call 404-577-TIPS.
