Boyfriend Arrested in Death of Wrestler's Daughter

Posted: 6:22 a.m. EDT May 6, 2003

The daughter of former pro wrestler "The Iron Sheik" was strangled over the weekend in Clayton County. Police arrested her boyfriend Monday in connection with her death.

Clayton County police found the body of Marissa Jeanne Vaziri, 27, strangled in a bed Sunday at the Riverdale-area apartment she shared with Charles Warren Reynolds, 38.

According to police, the pair had been drinking and taking pills, Capt. Jeff Turner said.

Vaziri was the oldest daughter of Hossein Khosrow Vaziri, 60, who as "The Iron Sheik," held a World Wrestling Federation championship title in the 1980s. He and his wife, Caryl, live in Fayette County.

Vaziri was the second local woman linked to pro wrestling to die in a week. However, she did not work in the industry, her mother said.

Elizabeth Hulette, known to wrestling fans as "Miss Elizabeth," died Thursday in the Cobb County home she shared with Lawrence Pfohl, who wrestled as "Lex Luger."

Preliminary autopsy results uncovered no foul play in Hulette's death.
