Hartsfield-Jackson Set To Open New Dog Park

Hartfield Jackson Airport looks to expand by offering a dog-friendly park for travelers.

The fenced-in, 1,000-square-foot area on the south end of the Ground Transportation Center contains rock as well as grass, benches, biodegradable bags for pet waste and even some artwork. Only two dogs are allowed at a time because of the area’s size, but owners can let dogs off leashes. The dog park is opening later this month.

The original plans for the expansion centered around a landscaped area for travelers but it eventually evolved into a dog park.

“This seemed to be a good step forward to serve our customers traveling with dogs and our customers wanting to enjoy the flowers,” said Kathryn Masters, Airside/Landside area manager and project manager for the dog park.

The newly renovated Ground Transportation center also includes taxicab service, hotel shuttles, parking shuttles, regional buses and the new ATL SkyTrain to the rental car center.
