Fast-Food Robbers Hit Again

Dunwoody police believe there is a strong connection between two similar fast-food restaurant robberies in Dunwoody.

Police arrested one man Tuesday night after gunmen hit a second fast-food restaurant in three days. Police said the latest robbery was at the McDonald's on Chamblee Dunwoody Road, less than three miles away from the Burger King that was hit Monday.

Police said two men wearing ski masks walked into the McDonald's, grabbed the manager and demanded she hand over the money in the register.

A witness called 911. When the call came in, officers were just across the street eating dinner. As they pulled up, the robbers ran out the back door.

"Our officers came around the corner and gave verbal commands to stop. The suspects did not and a brief foot chase occurred," said Detective Kelly Gobely.

The thieves jumped a fence and ran across Interstate 285.

"We were able to apprehend one of the suspects but the other is still on the large," said Gobely.

Officers recovered a semi automatic handgun and believed the other person who got away is carrying a pistol. Detectives think these could be the same bandits who robbed Burger King the day before.

"We're definitely looking into that. We will not discount that.. it's a possibilty ...we're looking at it," said Gobely.

The suspect arrested will face armed robbery charges.
