Nurse Arrested On Child Molestation Charges

Posted: 6:36 am EST November 24, 2009Updated: 4:15 pm EST November 24, 2009

Police arrested a male nurse anesthetist for the second time in a week, listing the new charges as aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's online booking site.

Paul Serdula, 47, of Marietta, was out of jail after being charged last week with setting up a video recording device in the women's bathroom of a dental office where he worked.

Police arrested Serdula on the new charges at a Holiday Inn Express on Monday night about 10 p.m.

Serdula was ordered to be held without bond Tuesday in the Cobb County Jail on charges that he allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old girl who was under the effects of anesthesia and videotaped the crime.

Arrest records show the incident happened at this Galleria dental office where Serdula was initially charged with hiding a camera in a bathroom.

"Right now it's safe to say that we have victims probably in early double digits and we expect as many as one hundred," said Sgt. Dana Pierce of the Cobb County Police Department.

Investigators said Serdula, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, had hundreds of videos, some of which were of potential victims. Police say videos, found in a nurse anesthetist's home, show him assaulting and touching patients inappropriately while they were under anesthesia at various medical and dental facilities.

“I can tell you what little I’ve seen is very graphic in nature. It would make one’s stomach turn,” said Pierce.

Police identified one of the locations as 600 Galleria Parkway. Investigators said they removed a recording device from that location as evidence.

"We know that he has apparently established some residency outside of this state. As well as practiced outside of this state," said Pierce.

Investigators said they obtained a search warrant and seized other items from Serdula’s Cobb County home to be analyzed for evidence.

Detectives are asking for the public's assistance to identify any other victims.

Investigators said anyone who may have had a dental or medical procedure in which they were placed under anesthesia is asked to contact their primary care physician who ordered the procedure to see if Serdula was the attending nurse anesthetist.

Serdula was a contract nurse anesthetist and did not work directly for any dental or medical physician.
