Smash-And-Grab Thieves Hit Atlanta Restaurants

Thieves hit two Atlanta restaurants within the same hour overnight Thursday and police are working to figure out if the crimes are related.

“The guys threw it with so much force, it actually put shards of glass into the drywall right over here,” said Cliff Sinon, Rise Sushi Lounge general manager.

Thieves Target Two Downtown Restaurants

Sinon said shortly after 2 a.m. Friday morning two people threw a red brick through the glass front door of the restaurant and swiped one of flat-screen TVs inside.

“They come, in they'll take it and just literally rip it off the wall,” Sinon said.

According to Sinon, the burglars couldn't get the second TV off the wall. Sinon believes they cased the place because they were able to bypass the motion sensor alarms.

“So these guys knew what they were doing, in and out of here. When they figured out that they couldn't get the second TV down, they were out of here,“ he said.

Less than an hour later, Atlanta police said, another smash-and-grab happened at the Original Chocolate Bar on Marietta Street. Investigators said two men stole a pair of flat-screen TVs but at this point they are not linking the two crimes. However, Sinon said he wouldn't be surprised if the same men did it.

“Some of the information we received from the police officers from the other spot that was robbed also, they were in and out in 30 seconds,” Sinon said.

Police are looking for 2 or 3 culprits.
