Fire Damages DeKalb County Apartments

Seven families are looking for new homes Friday after fire damaged their units at a DeKalb County apartment complex.

The fire heavily damaged at least two units at the Orchard Walk Apartments in the 3800 block of Flat Shoals Parkway. Six other units in the building suffered heavy smoke and water damage.

Firefighters said the fire started in a vacant unit at the apartment complex.

The residents of some of the damaged unit are staying with friends and relatives. The apartment complex management offered vacant units to other victims.
