Police: Deputy Accused Of Stalking Left Explicit Messages

A Bartow County sheriff’s deputy, accused of stalking, continued to harass women even after he was fired from his job, police said.

Johnny Mike Nicholson was fired in late October after police said the Bartow County sheriff’s office handled several complaints about harassment on the job.

Channel 2 Action News reporter George Howell spoke with one woman who claims that Nicholson left business cards at her front door with explicit messages written on them. She asked Howell to conceal her identity.

“He used to stick them under my door, in my apartment, and he used to write really nasty stuff. I used to find them in my door and my kids would pick them up and give them to me," the woman said.

"I told my husband first … somebody's harassing me, and I'm not really from here. I was scared to tell on him since he's a cop … and when I told my husband, he's in Afghanistan, he called the sheriff's department,” the woman said.

Cartersville police told Howell that Nicholson turned himself in after realizing a warrant was out for his arrest.

"He had been placing business cards … allegedly placing business cards with some type of sexual overtones with messages on them on the doors of women at an apartment complex where he was serving as a courtesy officer," said Cartersville Police Chief Thomas Culpepper.

"During the investigation, we discovered there were other victims out there who had the same situation occur," said Culpepper.

With the former deputy behind bars, at least one victim is breathing a sigh of relief.

“I'm happy they put him in jail, that's where he belongs, but I'm scared also," the woman said.
