A Covington Walmart store was evacuated after a man announced he had a bomb and robbed the bank inside the store Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at the Walmart on Industrial Boulevard just after 2 p.m.

Police said a white man between 50 and 60 years old walked up to a bank teller inside the Walmart and announced he had a bomb. He never displayed the bomb, police said.

Officials said the man got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Covington police said the man left some sort of device behind after the robbery. Officials later determined the device was not an explosive.

The robber is believed to be driving an older Chevrolet two-door extended cab pickup truck, possibly tan or gray. Police said the pickup may have been carrying bags of trash and debris in the back.
