A Delta plane carrying 138 passengers was evacuated Saturday at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after smoke was reported from the engine.

Channel 2 Action News assignment editor Megan Jollett received several calls Saturday afternoon from concerned viewers and travelers about a possible evacuation at the airport.

Delta representative Carlos Santos said smoke was detected from an engine as the plane was taxiing. Santos said the airport’s control tower noticed the smoke.

Santos said fire trucks were deployed and the engine was sprayed.

Passengers about Delta Flight 1016, who were set to depart at 3 p.m. for Philadelphia, were taken off the airplane and no one was injured. They went down the slides and were bused back to the terminal. Santos said a different plane would take the passengers to Philadelphia.

The incident was still under investigation.
