Woman Found After Kidnap Report, Arrested

Posted: 9:48 am EST November 6, 2009Updated: 1:58 pm EST November 6, 2009

Police said a woman who had been sought as a possible kidnap victim was located in the Riverdale area and arrested.

Fulton County police spokesman Sgt. Scott McBride said a search was begun for 24-year-old Deniecia E. Lester, a mother of three, after her husband reported she had text-messaged him that she had been kidnapped.

McBride said a team of two Fulton police and six U.S. marshals searched for her on Thursday in the Clayton County area.

He said she was located unharmed Thursday night.

Police said she'd been staying with another man in a Clayton County apartment.

In an exclusive interview, Lester's sister told Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik that the family is relieved she is OK, although they are still looking for answers.

"We're just really happy that she's been found and now we're just dealing with the aftermath and it's just going to be a long battle ahead just to find out what happened," said Lester's sister Dejara Cannon.

Police say Lester was arrested on a charge of a false report of a crime.

Lester appeared in court Friday. She was granted a $5,000 signature bond and was placed in a treatment diversion program.
