A Douglasville mother is outraged over a CD given to her child at a school assembly.

The special program, held at Stewart Middle School in conjunction with the recent BET Hip-Hop Awards taping in Atlanta, was meant to encourage reading and boost interest in mathematics among students.

As part of the assembly, students were also treated to performances by musical groups Pretty Ricky and Rich Kids.

But Theresa Delahoy said there was nothing pretty about what her son brought home.

Delahoy said the CD contained vulgar lyrics, and that it also had profanity on it.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Eric Philips caught up with Stewart Middle School principal Dewayne Jackson and questioned him about the incident.

Jackson said once school officials realized the material was inappropriate, they immediately started collecting the items from students.

Jackson also told Philips that he didn’t realize the material would be handed out in the first place.
