Officer Arrested In 'High Stakes' Poker Game Bust

SMYRNA, Ga. -- A Cobb County police officer resigned after being arrested for his alleged involvement in a high-stakes poker game.After complaints from residents, police set up an undercover sting and arrested one of their own.Police said officer Christopher Soltes, a police officer in the county's Westside precinct, acted as the poker game dealer.Officials said the games would run once a week at the Vinings Forest Condominiums in Smyrna."Every Saturday there would be lots of cars coming in...lots of people going into that unit,” said Vinings Forest resident Emily Fine.Police said lots of catered food would be ordered in for each poker game and that a number of men and women were present at the games.Soltes would get paid by tips from the "high rollers,” according to police.The condo's owner, Paul Miller, was also arrested. He was charged with running a commercial gambling operation.
