Angry Dad Accused Of Pushing School Principal

Posted: 6:02 am EDT October 14, 2009Updated: 10:09 am EDT October 14, 2009

A father accused of roughing up a local principal waived his first court appearance Wednesday morning.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office said Thomas Gibson showed up at Ola High School in McDonough and confronted the assistant principal Tuesday.

Police said Gibson came to the school, did not sign in and went directly to Rico Pittman's office. Officials said Gibson confronted Pittman in an "unruly" manner -- including yelling and putting a finger in Pittman's face. Pittman told Gibson to leave the building and he tried to walk past him, but Gibson pushed him, police said.

The sheriff's office said Gibson was upset over a disciplinary matter involving his child.

Gibson was charged with simple battery, loitering on school property and terroristic threats. He was taken to the Henry County Jail where he was being held without bond.
