Boil Water Advisory Lifted In Buckhead

Posted: 8:22 am EDT July 8, 2009Updated: 12:50 pm EDT July 8, 2009

A boil water advisory was lifted Wednesday afternoon for thousands of water customers in Buckhead.

The advisory was lifted just before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The city of Atlanta said Tuesday they were not sure if the water was safe to drink after a problem at a pumping station.

"We're asking our customers to boil the water before they use it for consumptive purposes. Boil water for a minute, let it cool, and then use it," said Rob Hunter with Atlanta Watershed Management.

The city said the boil water advisory was necessary because of an electrical failure at a pumping station around 6 a.m. Tuesday caused water pressure to drop below acceptable levels.
