The AJC Peachtree Road Race takes runners from the suave streets of Buckhead to the cool corners of Midtown, finishing in Piedmont Park.

Volunteers have been working around the clock to prepare for Saturday’s race.

The coolest starting temperature on race day was 62 degrees in 1986 and 1989.

Channel 2 Action News Meteorologist Karen Minton says weather for the Peachtree Road Race looks good, with temperatures starting in the mid 60s at the start of the race.

More than 500,000 recyclable paper cups and 65,000 bottles of water will be used to hydrate runners during this year's race.

The wheelchair race began promptly at 6:45 a.m., followed by the footrace at 7:30 a.m.
