Richard Shevlin was freed after being trapped in an elevator at a Cobb County Comfort Inn, but that freedom didn’t last for long.

The 22-year-old Eagleville, Pa. man was arrested shortly thereafter for allegedly damaging the Smyrna hotel’s elevator by trying to kick his way out.

Smyrna police said Shevlin knocked the elevator door off its tracks, and also damaged fixtures inside the elevator. In all, they said Shevlin caused at least $500 in damage.

Police said Shevlin was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
