Water Main Break Floods Atlanta Streets

Posted: 12:29 pm EDT June 28, 2009Updated: 4:28 pm EDT June 28, 2009

A northwest Atlanta street could be closed for a week due to extensive damage resulting from a water main break, said Atlanta Water Management representative Janet Ward.

The incident happened at the intersection of Delmar Lane and Hemphill School Lane.

Ward said the break involves an old, 20-inch main installed in 1956. Ward said some customers experienced a water outage as a result.

Channel 2 Action News received some reports of flooding in the area, as the water damage caused the road to buckle.
