Sheriff Deputy's Patrol Car Slams Into House

CONYERS, Ga. -- A Rockdale County sheriff's deputy was life-flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon after his patrol car slammed into the side of a house and flipped over.According to the Georgia State Patrol, the deputy was responding to a burglary in process call when the accident happened at about 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Adrian Circle and McDaniel Mills in Conyers. The deputy had his lights and siren activated, said officials.News Chopper 2 was at the scene and the patrol car could be seen, wheels up, in the front yard of the house.Officials said the deputy lost control of the vehicle as he came atop a hill. He then veered off the road, hit a mailbox, street sign and culvert before overturning and slamming into a house and power pole. The utility pole snapped in half and a small fire broke out at the base of the pole.Two people were inside the house, but were not injured.
