Ice Cream Cart Man Hit With Hammer, Ice Cream Stolen

Posted: 10:26 am EDT June 25, 2009

Officials in Gwinnett County said two juveniles struck a man in the head with a hammer and stole his ice cream cart.

Police said a 28-year-old man was pushing his ice cream cart down Downs Way in Norcross when two male teens approached him and hit him with a hammer. The juveniles then stole his ice cream cart.

The victim asked witnesses to call 911 and the witnesses directed police to an address on Squire Court.

Investigators obtained consent from the juveniles’ guardian to search the residence on Squire Court. During the search, police said they found the ice cream cart.

Both juveniles, aged 15 and 16 years old, were arrested and transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center. Both have been charged with one count of armed robbery.

The victim, Ricardo Cabana, of Atlanta, was treated at Gwinnett Medical Center and released.
