More Bear Sightings Reported In Acworth

ACWORTH, Ga. -- A bear, or perhaps several bears, was spotted and photographed again in an Acworth neighborhood Thursday.Timothy Horvath of Bada Bing Animal Removal sent Channel 2 Action News pictures of a bear raiding a bird feeder in the Dallas Landing subdivision.Earlier this week several Acworth residents reported bear sightings. Channel 2 viewer, April Lester, sent us two pictures of the bear she spotted picking through a trash can.Acworth police chief Mike Wilkie thinks the bears are actually a mother bear and her cub.SLIDESHOW: Bear Spotted In Acworth
"If residents keep their trash secure, the bears will move on," he told Channel 2 Action News.Employees from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources were in Acworth Thursday searching for the bears.Horvath said he spotted evidence of up to seven bears in the area. State wildlife officials discounted his claims.The DNR's Robin Hill said bears travel alone. She said it is not normal for several bears to be living together.
