White Water Closes Suddenly; Blames 'Plumbing Problem'

Posted: 1:38 pm EDT June 16, 2009Updated: 5:39 pm EDT June 16, 2009

White Water, the Cobb County water park, closed suddenly Tuesday afternoon ordering park visitors out of the water and to leave the park immediately.

Officials blamed the shutdown on a "plumbing problem' in a park bathroom, promising the popular water park will reopen Wednesday morning.

Kendall Kelton, a Whitewater spokesperson, told Channel 2 Action News park employees were following "mandatory procedures."

White Water officials said before the park opened Tuesday morning, maintenance workers noticed some of toilets were clogged in one of the bathhouses.

Heavy equipment had to be called in to make the repairs, forcing White Water to close just after 1 p.m.

No guests were exposed to any water problems nor were any rides exposed, according to Kelton.

White Water gave complimentary tickets to customers from metro Atlanta. Kelton said out of town visitors were taken care of on a case-by-case basis.

White Water will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
