Police: Mail Carrier Delivered Meth Concealed In Phone Books

Posted: 1:47 pm EDT June 12, 2009Updated: 9:32 pm EDT June 12, 2009

Two Dawson County mail carriers have been arrested on felony drug charges. Police said at least one of the suspects was delivering drugs on her mail route.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Darlene Crane Waters, 45, and Glen Alan Corindia, 46, on May 22.

Waters delivered methamphetamines hidden in a phone book to a mailbox on her route in Dawson County, according to investigators.

"Not a whole lot amazes me anymore, but this was certainly unique," said John Cagle with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office.

She is charged with possession and intent to distribute methamphetamine, manufacturing and possession of marijuana, and two counts of using communication frequencies for criminal use.

She was released on $25,200 bond. Post office officials announced late Friday afternoon that they were suspending Waters.

Corindia is charged with possession of marijuana and methamphetamines and manufacturing marijuana.

He returned to work at the post office Friday after posting $21,200 in bond.

Corindia and Waters live together, according to police.

U.S. Postal Service inspectors are looking into the charges against the pair and could file federal charges against them.
