College Professor Wins $1K A Week In Lottery

A Lula college professor is feeling “surprised” following a $52,000 lottery win.

Robert Wainberg, 55, won $1,000 a week for a year from matching five out of six winning numbers plus the Free Ball in the May 27 Win for Life drawing.

Circle M Food Shop on Cornelia Highway in Lula, sold the winning ticket. Winning numbers from the May 27 Win for Life drawing were: 6-8-22-24-27-32 and the Free Ball was 5.

Wainberg said he learned of his lottery win while out getting gas.

“I was surprised,” he said. “I feel pretty good.”

Wainberg has worked as a biology professor for more than 20 years at Piedmont College in Lula. With his wife, Patricia, the couple plan to pay bills.

“This is a nice feeling,” he shared.

Win for Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia, Virginia and Kentucky. As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
