Estranged Wife, Baby Kidnapped At Gunpoint From Atlanta Mall

A 27-year-old Clayton County man was arrested Sunday after police said he kidnapped his estranged wife and newborn baby from a metro Atlanta mall, then fired shots when witnesses tried to help.

Morrow police said Darius Hosley confronted his wife with a gun while she and their 2-month-old child shopped at Southlake Mall.

Police said Hosley fired the shots outside the mall, but no one was struck. Police said Hosley then forced the victims into his car and drove away, but he didn't get far.

Morrow Police and Clayton County Police stopped Hosley's gold Mitsubishi Gallant near the intersection of Lake Drive and Mt. Zion Road.

Police said the victims were rescued and Hosley was immediately arrested.

Police credited mall management and security personnel with quickly relaying emergency information, resulting in multiple response units and a quick apprehension of the suspect.

Police said the victims were checked out by Morrow Fire/EMS and released with no complaints of injuries.

Hosley faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, cruelty to children, possession of a weapon, and reckless conduct.

Hosley was taken to the Clayton County Jail.
