Two dozen regional agencies joined forced for a major crime crackdown Wednesday night.

In all, 27 agencies took part. The coordinated effort netted 182 arrests and more than 1,000 traffic tickets. Officials said they even caught a murder suspect in southeast Atlanta.

Channel 2 Action News reporter John Bachman was with officials as several arrests were made.

The command center for the crime crackdown was set up at Turner Field's green lot.

Police didn’t even have to leave the operation headquarters to get a good bust, they said. Officers said they found $357 in cash and 118 baggies of cocaine on a man in the parking lot of Turner Field.

The man could be heard saying, “That’s not mine.”

Police said the man is Dwight Fallins. Fallins faces several drug charges, including outstanding warrants for drug charges in Cobb County.

“They don’t have jurisdictions, no limitations, so again – they might leave out of one county, but guess what? You’re coming into the city, so you leave the city of Atlanta (and in the) next jurisdiction, they’re waiting for you,” said Maj. Debra Williams with the Atlanta Police Department.

Fallins was just one of 182 arrests made Wednesday in four metro counties.

“Out of all those jurisdictions, I think we have over 27 law enforcement agencies participating today,” said Williams.

Williams organized the crackdown. She said the goal is to send the same message to the bad guys and the good guys.

“The majority of complains that you might here are, ‘Oh, I never see a police officer.’ This just lets them know we’re out there,” said Williams.

The Georgia State Patrol also participated, as did the Georgia Tech Police.
