DECATUR, Ga. -- Two schools in Decatur were placed on lockdown after police apprehended several teenagers who attempted to gain entry to Decatur High School. The incident happened at about 3 p.m. Thursday. The schools lifted the lockdown after an hour. Deputy Police Chief Keith Lee said about 30 teens were involved. He said officers detained eight of the would-be intruders, including one who had ammunition in his pockets. The others, according to Lee, ran from police. Renfroe Middle School, which is nearby, was also put on lockdown as a precaution. No one was hurt. Police have not determined why the teens tried to enter the high school.
