New Radar Sign Slows Dunwoody Drivers

DUNWOODY, Ga. -- The City of Duwoody is taking a new approach to stop speeders.The city just completed a two week test of a “Driver Feedback Sign” near Chestnut Charter Elementary.For one week, the Radar Sign Company clocked drivers without turning on the sign. But after the sign was activated, drivers did slow down.

“As they approach these signs, there’s a little thing that kicks into the brain that allows them to move from a not very conscious mode to an extremely aware mode. (It) lets them know, ‘I’m speeding. I’m going to hit the brakes and slow down,’” said Charlie Robeson with Radar Sign.Radar Sign has 100 similar signs in neighborhoods across metro Atlanta, including areas in Alpharetta, Newnan, and Roswell.
