Several law enforcement agencies from across metro Atlanta took to the streets Wednesday night for a major crime crackdown.

The Multijurisdictional Task Force combined its resources to systematically reduce and deter crime in areas of the city with the highest crime levels.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Richard Elliot was with the police during the sweep and took several pictures with a digital camera that you can see here.

In one case, authorities pulled over a Dodge Magnum in southeast Atlanta for a traffic violation.

Upon searching the vehicle, authorities said they found marijuana, a sawed-off shotgun and an M1 Carbine. Authorities said as it turned out, one of the three individuals inside the vehicle was wanted for robbery and the fugitive squad had been looking for the individual. Police said the other two people inside the vehicle were also taken into custody.

Police said they hoped to remove narcotics and weapons from city streets in an effort to create a safer Atlanta.

Authorities staged a mobile command center at the green lot of Turner Field.
