Twenty-one people were arrested after gambling raids on two Clayton County coffee houses. The raids happened right across the street from the police station.

Lake City police raided Café Nho and Café Eden late Tuesday afternoon. Police said the raid came after a 3-month long investigation.

Detectives said the businesses were really fronts for illegal gambling and they were not coffee houses.

“It was hard for us to imagine they were selling that many cups of coffee over here. Really. That’s what they said their main source of income was,” said David Colwell with the Lake City Police Department.

The Lake City Police Department headquarters building is right across the street from the two businesses.

“Yeah, it’s pretty brazen,” said Colwell.
