ATLANTA -- Michael Vick is out of federal prison in Kansas.A contact with the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed to Channel 2 Action News reporter Scott MacFarlane that Vick was in transit Wednesday. He’s likely headed to his home state of Virginia, where Vick is scheduled to appear at a federal bankruptcy hearing April 2. He also could be en route to his own house.U.S. Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman Felicia Ponce confirmed Vick was removed from the Leavenworth federal prison at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday. Ponce said members of the U.S. Marshal’s service are supervising Vick during transit from the prison, but Ponce would not confirm Vick’s destination. The prison bureau often “staggers” its information on a delayed basis. The bureau’s “IN TRANSIT” listing for Vick was released late Wednesday morning. The prison bureau refuses to release information about where an inmate is headed until long after the inmate’s arrival. A spokeswoman said this policy is designed to ensure inmates’ safety.
