Police: Former Teacher Offered Drugged Children For Sex

Posted: 6:05 am EST February 3, 2009Updated: 8:13 am EST February 3, 2009

A federal grand jury in Mobile has indicted former teacher Melissa B. Gray of Chickasaw on child pornography charges.

She's accused by police of drugging two young children in her house so a man from Florida could molest them. Investigators charged Milton, Fla., resident Jonathan Daniel Bervig before the children were molested.

The indictment Monday charges Gray with possession and distribution of child pornography, but does not mention the drugging allegations.

Conviction on the most serious charge, receipt and distribution of child pornography, would trigger a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison. The maximum penalty is 20 years.
